Stuttgart 21 Parametric FEM

Solutions for Meshing Complex Geometry

The new central station for the Stuttgart 21 infrastructure project by Ingehoven Architects with Frei Otto features complex double curved concrete geometries. The roof transforms into 28 structural columns thus providing daylight openings for the underground station. For Werner Sobek Stuttgart ROK developed client-specific algorithms to generate complex FEM models for structural analysis. They were implemented in standard CAD packages as flexible tools to generate and modify complex and coherent mesh models. These tools feature export functions to easily transfer huge geometry and reinforcement data to the desired finite element Software.
